There will always be controversy when it comes to health. Everyone
has their own beliefs of the “best” way to treat something. In these two
articles the strategy in question concerns the Anterior Cruciate Ligament, more
commonly known as the ACL.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to point out the
controversies associated with certain techniques used to preform a full ACL
reconstruction and whether or not it leads to osteoarthritis (OA).

reader can relate the name of the author to a real face.
Position on Subject: The article states that reconstructive
surgery of the ACL does not restore the knee to the function it was before injury,
as misconceived by most people. Fithian takes the position that surgery will
not be perfect and because of that there will be an onset of negative side
effects such as OA.
