Analyzing My Text's Cultural Setting

In this post below I will be analyzing the cultural setting of the article "Why Doctors Are Sick of Their Profession".

High Contrast. "A Medical Examination". 8/6/2008. Public Domain.

What values, ideas, beliefs and even laws of culture lay an important role in the text?
The author of this article is a doctor and he is expressing his own values, ideas, and beliefs upon his profession. He believes that the doctoral profession is a very high end job that should be earned and then enjoyed. However, in his experience he finds that he does not enjoy being a doctor. He talks about how the patients and the general population do not give doctors the respect that they need. He mentions in a quote how one doctor gets too little respect from his patients, colleagues and administrator despite his good judgement and hard work.

Does the text address these beliefs directly or indirectly?
The text directly addresses these beliefs. On some level the author feels very disrespected and insulted and for the most part very angry about the way that people view his profession. He directly talks about the time and effort that he and many other doctors put in every day for the sake of their profession yet they don't get anything back out. He also provides statistics supporting the fact that he is not the only one who does not enjoy his doctoral profession.

What is the relationship of the text to its values?
The author directly expresses his value in this text and creates an article that expresses his own opinion. The article is somewhat of a call to action, in that he sees a problem and wants a fix to it. Without the author expressing his values there would be no argument or paper.
